okay guys, since im from a younger Era, i need some opinions on who were the best players were of all time as a FRESHMAN, thanks
LSU's best Freshman was Tommy Hodson in 1986. He was the consensus All-SEC QB and led the Tigers to our first SEC Championship since 70. He was clearly a great find and great leader from the very beginning, when he carved up a very good Aggie defense in his first start. Close behind him are Kevin Faulk, Anthony McFarland (both key to 95 as a winning season) and Justin Vincent (SECCG & Sugar Bowl BCSNCG MVP). if you are only counting true fresmen, I would say Faulk. Freshmen didn't play varsity when Pistol Pete was around, but he certainly would have starred on the team if he could. Chris Jackson was pretty good too--second in the nation in scoring and on some All-American teams. GEAUX TIGERS
From what I've seen, I'd have to say Chris Jackson. Granted, I've only seen highlight reels, but he was unreal!!! To compare him to recent college players, he has Jimmer's pull-up jumper with Kemba Walker's mid-range game. Neither of those guys did what Chris Jackson did as a freshman.
I think he's the most fortunate freshman to have played behind the most valuable offensive line. I like Justin Vincent just fine, but that line was incredible.
