The best I saw was the 79 Bama D. A case could be made for the 92 team. 79, mentally, though was tougher. They didn't just respond to a challenge, they retaliated.
I hope I can play in this one. I submit the 1973 Ohio State defense that was part of a team that outscored its opponents 413-64 and only gave up 43 points in the regular season and then drilled USC in the Rose Bowl 42-21. Unfortuntely, a freaking 10-10 tied at #4 Michigan left the Buckeyes at 10-0-1 and Alabama earned the National title instead of Ohio State. :angry:
