I'm in New Iberia this Fall ... Gonna stop by Legnon's and get a link ... My cousins shop there and get their Sausage and boudin
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theadvertiser.com/amp/91446504 Don's burned down about a year ago ... Great Pork Chop Sandwich but boudin was getting greasy and a cut below what it was in the past when it won Best Boudin Awards ... Tried it when it newly opened this past April because Billy's lines were ridiculous and it was good but not enough Pork and still a bit greasy ... But good enough to make a turd. CaCa must be related to the owner lol
My grandfather sold them hogs way back in the day when they we're just a shack. Family stop for 40 years. I won't claim they are the best, but more of a traditional stop. Their cracklins are the tits tho. There us a market basket in LC that has a pretty awesome link.
I got boudin at Don's in July. It was overly greasy, seasoned well, but not as flavorful as Jerry Lee's. Jerry Lee's remains my #1.
Is Daves still open? Its okay but not better than legnons imo If you are talking about the most recent one that son of a bitch is dirty as dirty can get. Just sent a friend of mine away for some shit he orchestrated and the bastard didnt get touched. Im from there but I hate that shitty little town.
I don't get to Lafayette and the surrounding areas too much anymore so for me it's either drive across town to Jerry Lee's or get it from a convenience store. I like crawfish boudin too but it's hard to find. Probably have it at Tony's but that's another crosstown drive. The other day I was driving down Gardere Lane from Nicholson to Highland Rd and there was a guy at the corner of GSRI and Gardere with one of those canopy tents cooking cracklins. He calls himself The Hog Cracklin Man. I bought a $5 bag and over half of them were too hard to bite on.
I meant in Baton Rouge. Some grocery stores here sell Richard's Boudin and I have gotten their crawfish before but I haven't seen it for a while. They still carry the regular Richard's boudin.
