Sweet! Money from a Liberal, it's like a tax refund come early with double the dollar value!

P.S. Obama sucks and we are at war with Islam, unless you are of course a Muslim.

Don't go getting your panties in a wad when I'm not on here for a bit, I do have a life outside of these rough and tough internet political forums, and I will be traveling for the Easter Holiday......so you know ;)

Well thanks for the lecture professor, but I don't think I'll get many CEUs for the class. I've highlighted your definition above. Something didn't sound quiet right so I polled Webster, Dictionary.com, and Wiki, and a few other sources of word definition. The word professional's definition of ignorance all agree that ignorance is a lack of knowledge, education or awareness. They don't mention anything like the "failing or refusing" piece of YOUR definition. And I have a feeling if the lecture had continued I would have learned that the "relevant knowledge" piece of your definition would have had a remarkable resemblance to your opinions. The word definition professionals left that part about 'relevant knowledge' out also.

Ignorance is a lack of knowledge, education or awareness. Period. One would be justified in saying you are ignorant about ignorance. So no, you didn't get it completely right. Not even close.

Well, it was not the dictionary definition of ignorance, but it was close. He is referring to a lack of critical thought, which often goes hand in hand with ignorance but is a far worse trait.

The world is filled with superficiality, prejudice, distortions, lies, deception, myopia, close-mindedness, righteousness, and hypocrisy. Humans have great capacity for rationality and reasonability. But for the most part this capacity must be developed, actively, by the mind. Those who have the capacity for critical thought but mindlessly conform rather than reason rationally are often perceived to be ignorant.

If he was discussing a lack of critical thought, he should have used terms that communicate that trait. He could have said she was unreasoned, or thoughtless, or any number of combination of words. But he didn’t. Those words don’t denigrate enough.

Ignorance is the preferred term many progressives’ use for people who just don’t seem to be able to understand ‘the truth’ or ‘the facts’. It gets funnier when the next statement is the obligatory rationalization that the non-progressives are insensitive, greedy, uncaring, hateful, and of course “conservatives love to see people suffer’. These statements are of course totally based on incontrovertible facts and are therefore the progressive making the statement is not subject to judgments of factual ignorance.

Communication between people is difficult. We apply agreed upon definitions to words to facilitate communication. If we both look at the same sky and I call it blue and you call it red we’ll never be able to discuss the beauty of the sunset. It’s impossible until we agree on the color definitions. There is great irony in TigerNC creating (or tweaking) his own word definitions and then using those definitions to post a rant about TChick46's refusal to enter into a conversation. Unfortunately this has become a communication norm. Said differently; mis-communication is now the communication norm.
