The Bengals beat the Patriots 13-6 and snap Tom Brady's consecutive games with TD streak. Drew's record safe for now.
If you didn't see any of the game or highlights, Amendola caught a pass at the one yard line and he was wide open, but the pass was a bit high and he jumped and fell to the ground at about the half yard line. Then as he is about to turn over to stretch the ball over into the endzone, a Bengal defender touches him down on his back. Then Edelman drops a ball in the endzone, although much credit should go to PacMan Jones for making it a difficult catch. He also overthrew a tackle eligible that was open in the endzone. Then Brady gets the ball on the next possession and throws a deep pass down the sideline to Dobson which would have resulted in a TD, except the Bengal defender made a great play on the ball. Then PacMan Jones intercepts the ball to effectively end the game. He tipped the ball in the air, fell to the ground, and the ball landed in his stomach. Streak over. Unreal.
The only bad thing about all this is we have to hear about Peyton Manning breaking the streak in the latter part of next season. The streak would be tied in week 17 of the 2014 season and broken in week 1 of the 2015 season if it doesn't get broken. At this point, it's hard to see how his streak is going to get broken all the way up to the day he retires. He could get to 100 games, conceivably.
True. The only thing that can conceivably stop it from being broken is the weather. Maybe there's a freak blizzard or something in Denver that causes a low scoring game.
Was that a fourth down play? Just wondering how they didn't score a TD on the next play from the 1/2 yard line.
no they tried to run it in on 1st, incomplete to the tackle eligible on 2nd, incomplete to Edelman on 3rd, and then kicked a FG to make the score 13-6, they were down 10, so they needed to get the points with only 6 minutes or so to go in the game When the Bengals got the ball back, they got a couple of first downs all the way to midfield, clock down to 3 minutes. Then Bernard fumbles for no good reason on 1st and 10. They were essentially 1 first down from ending the game.
