On DandyD he mentioned this CB from Beaumont, TX. What have yall heard about him? Do yall agree with these % by DD or is he more hopeful and biased like he usually is? Are we really the lead for Barksdale, I am not so sure? In football recruiting news, LSU is well on its way to having a top five recruiting class. I believe that Les Miles is now sitting on 23 commitments, 20 of which are announced. I have been told that LSU will sign 28 players in the next signing class. A new name that I am hearing that LSU is recruiting is Ben Wells, (CB, 6'2", 185) from Beaumont, Texas. According to my Texas recruiting source, Wells committed to Texas a few months back but is considered a soft commitment and will likely visit LSU in January. I was also told that as of Sunday night LSU leads for defensive tackle Joseph Barksdale who is from Detroit, Michigan. Below is my list of players that I believe LSU is still recruiting and who have a strong interest in LSU. Joe McKnight (ATH), 6’0”, 210, John Curtis 60-40 Will Blackwell (DT), 6’4”, 280, West Monroe 60-40 Luther Davis (DE), 6’4”, 290, West Monroe 70-30 Chad Jones, (SS) 6’2”, 210 Southern Lab 70-30 Steffon Francois (SS/LB), 6’2”, 210, East ST John 80-20 Jason Peters (DT/TE), 6’2”, 260, Catholic BR 70-30 Terrance Tolliver (WR), 6’5”, 185 Hempstead, Texas 70-30 Joseph Barksdale (DT), 6’6”, 320, Detroit, 50-50 Cameron Heyward (DT), 6’4”, 270, Atlanta, GA 60-40 Christian Scott (DB), 6’1”, 190, Dallas Skyline 40-60 Ben Wills, (CB) 6’2”, 185, Beaumont, no odds yet
This is the first I'm hearing of Ben Wells - nobody at Scout has mentioned his name. It looks like we are desperately trying to find another CB in this class. I doubt we lead for Barksdale. We're in the mix, but he'll likely end up a Buckeye. 50/50 is probably high for LSU's odds on him. I don't think we have 60-40 odds with Heyward either. Unfortunately, 40-60 is probably right for Christian Scott but man I hope we can get him.
We are after Damien Berry before Ben Wells. Don't know much on the kid, but I do know he is a Texas commit so it will be hard to flip him. On the other side Damien Berry is who we are after. He is a 4 star cornerback and was committed to Miami but with the coaching shake up he is now looking around. If he commits to us our chances of signing Deonte Thompson increase dramatically as well. This covers two needs for us both CB and WR.
What if Texas' sudden interest in Christian Scott is related (either because Wells is soft or it's causing Wells to reconsider)?
It is possible, especially considering Texas usually gets all of their commitments early in the season, which would imply something has changed to make them go after Scott this late...
