Bell is making it very difficult for Pierre Thomas to get back on the field, no doubt about it. Payton now needs to realize that he can dust off the package from '06 that had Deuce in the single back set and Bush in the slot. With Colston and Henderson wide, and Shockey giving us a huge target over the middle, defenses will be afraid......very afraid.

I believe this is the best offense ever assembled on an NFL field, with Bell in the backfield and Shockey at TE. The only thing comparable is the Vikings of 98 and of course the Pats from 2 years ago, but they had no running game, so I would not even count them (remember the Super Bowl performance when they could not run the ball). So the 98 Vikings are the closest thing to it.

And that's without any significant contribution from Reggie Bush, which will be forthcoming.

Saints had a pretty good offense in 1979: Manning, Muncie, Galbreath, Chandler, Childs, and Dobler. No defense though.

And as for Bell: Great news. Sprained MCL's can take some time to heal, though.

    Great offense, no doubt.

But we're talking about another level.

Radio station 690 AM had a lockroom interview with him from yesterday on the radio this morning. He said he would like to play this weekend but would do whatever the doctors told him to do. He said if sitting out was best for the team in the long run he would sit out.
