i visited beirut in around 2015, they call it the paris of the middle east. i dunno if i would go that far, but it was nice by arab world standards (excepting the oil rich places). it seemed fairly safe except the odd hezbollah flag here and can make a nigga uncomfortable. i got drunk there and talked to a lot of other drunks. they had opinions ranging from "this place is totally safe" to "you are a lunatic for coming here by yourself".

one thing is for sure, you dont want to live or really be anywere long term where islamic folks are more than say 15% of the population. under 5 % is fine, even good. more than that and you asking for the bombings.

That explosion in West was insane. It happened just days after the Boston Marathon bombing.
