For the past several years, I have been extremely suspicious of Briles and really all of Baylor's athletics. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a payment plan on the level of the 1980's SMU debacle going on in Waco.

 

Lot of talk about that among coaches and ADs in the Big 12. He has got to be paying them. Why else would anybody go to Waco? And Baylor got real good real fast.

 

Well I can tell you the local honks here are flat out scared and have all voted Baylor to go undefeated through the big 12. TCU looks to be getting healthy.

 

Didn't they have a huge facilities upgrade? Briles came up in Texas High School football, he is the perfect coach for them, he has many relationships with coaches throughout Texas High School. Texas should have thrown all the money they could at him.

Yes, a huge facilities upgrade. My guess is that the alums got sick of being the conference whipping boy and decided to buy their way to winning.

 

Wasn't Ann Richards a Baylor gal? I always thought they had a really wealthy alumnus, so if they wanted to have a legit program all they need is to spend that cash and hire a good coach. The talent in Texas is there. Charlie's roots are on the east coast, I never understood that hire.
