I went to the game today (left before the furious comeback though). Score was 8-1 in the 8th, and LSU never really threatened. Lots of balls hit RIGHT AT defenders. Hard to score runs like that. On defense, we're still pretty inconsistant. Saw several errors still (at least one was inexplicably called a hit). I think we'll be okay in the long run. This team had hit rock bottom in the previous reime. This is going to take time to fix. Don't get upset when the hottest team in the SEC comes in and wins a pair of close ball games. It's going to happen again before this is all over with. Give Coach time to right the ship. It's not his fault we gave him the Titanic (post iceberg).
OK... I will give him time (next year hopefully) but baseball is a lot like basketball - You have the number one recruiting class in the nation & you kinda expect things to start looking up. They are over 50% in wins but the SEC is kinda beating them up.. LSU is better than last year for sure, guess I was just expecting more.. Softball is about the same - . Hurry up Football!!!:milesmic:
Georgia has won 10 straight SEC games and is a legit #7 ranked team with a current 14-3 record in conference. LSU had to play their A games to win the series. Sounds like LSU let a lot of opportunities get away. Today might end with a different story if they step it up a notch.
They are. You say so yourself, "For sure." Softball is in the thick of things. They'll be on channel 38 at noon today with a lot on the line in the SEC. http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=27870&SPID=2174&ATCLID=1444010&DB_OEM_ID=5200
SEC softball teams hall all improved tremendously. Just because we don't win every freakin' game doesn't mean the program has gone down the tubes. In baseball, Manieri inherited a team that couldn't win the Southland Conference. I see marked improvement. The "#1 recruiting class" are all Freshmen right now. SEC pitching and high school fastball throwing are 2 completely different animals.
I'd even apply that to SEC/NCAA baseball and venture to say that the days of one program dominating like we saw with Skip are gone. We may never again see a program do what we did in the 90's. Though college softball is still being largely dominated by a couple of PAC 10 schools. It's early still but: 1. Alabama 2. Arizona St. 3. Florida 4. Texas A&M 5. UCLA 6. Michigan 7. Stanford 8. Oklahoma 9. Houston 10. Arizona
