1. Alabama 2. Penn State 3. Texas Tech 4. Texas 5. Oklahoma 6. Florida 7. USC 8. Oklahoma State 9. Boise State 10. Utah The only question is Texas, Florida and OU. How far does Texas fall in the human polls (hopefully no worse than 4, they went 3-1 against a brutal schedule)? OU had an impressive enough win to barely hold off Florida. USC will definitely fall from 5 to 7. Everyone can relax, USC will not be playing for the national championship this year. If Bama, Penn State and Texas Tech all win out, Bama and Texas Tech will undoubtedly finish 1 and 2 in the BCS. BCS Championship Projection: Florida vs. Penn State
If we don't beat Bama, they will lose in the SECCG. Then you have PenSt. and and a gaggle of 1-loss teams...... Who plays fo the Natl. Championship? TTech will lose to OU or OSU.... :geauxtige:geauxtige :geauxtige:geauxtige
If Bama loses to Florida and both have 1 loss, then logically Florida will finish ahead of Bama in the BCS. Bama would be out of it. Texas Tech cannot beat OU, Okla. State and Missouri. They simply don't play enough defense to blow past all 3 of these teams. Once Texas Tech loses once, they will drop enough to take themselves out of contention (lack of respect by the voters). That leaves Florida, Texas, OU and USC. USC will be behind all 3 of these teams. They are out. Texas will be ahead of OU and probably playing in the Big 12 championship and winning it. If that happens, I believe Texas will hold off Florida. But what if Florida beats a #1 ranked Bama and Texas beats a #8 ranked Missouri. All bets are off and I believe Florida would jump Texas. It would be oh so close. Florida State losing today potentially hurts Florida's chances. Playing The Citadel 3 weeks from now hurts even more. Look for Meyer to pile up the points on every team from here on out. They know it matters. If OU can somehow get some help and win out and beat Missouri, then OU will definitely be the top of the 1-loss teams list. But that's a big if. Texas won't lose again and OU needs to finish in a 3 way tie with Texas and Texas Tech and see what the tiebreakers call for. Lastly, don't overlook Oklahoma State. If they beat Texas Tech next week and then beat OU at the end of the regular season and somehow find themselves in the Big 12 CG beating Missouri, who knows.
It is setting up for another disaster for the BCS. I agree but I think Texas holds off Florida for the right to demolish the Big 10 team.
If Texas Tech beats Oklahoma State next week, it will be difficult for Texas to get to the Big 12 CG. Texas Tech could lose to OU and OU lose to Oklahoma State giving OU and Okie State 2 losses, leaving Tech and Texas tied with 1 loss. Tech gets to play in the Big 12 CG and Texas has no chance to play for the NC, the pollsters won't let them. Texas, Texas Tech and either OU/Okie State all tied with 1 loss. I don't know what the tie-breakers call for.
Here are the Big 12 tiebreaker rules: It would go down to who lost first, so Oklahoma probably would be the top team. This is assuming the top three teams have 1 loss, all to each other in circular form. Note: The B12 does not have the exemption that the SEC has that if the top two teams are ranked within 5 spots of each other, it goes to the head-to-head match up of those two teams.
5. The highest ranked team in the first Bowl Championship Series Poll following the completion of Big 12 regular season conference play shall be the representative. I read that as the first poll to come out AFTER the Big 12 season is over, not the first BCS poll to come out. I didn't quite understand what you were trying to say Berge. Ok, now I re-read what you said and I see where you are coming from. If OU wins out the regular season, they will surely be ahead of Texas in the BCS (back to back games against Tech and Okie State will certainly outdo the 2 games Texas ends up playing). Crazy stuff coming from the Big 12.
The OSU game in Lubbock will be exciting. I look for a shootout of course. No way Tech stops their running game. I'd give the edge to Tech since it is in Lubbock. I don't think Tech will beat the Sooners in Norman. I don't think OU will beat Okie Lite in Stoolwater. I think they can, but I don't think they will. Of course, it is all "ONE GAME AT A TIME."
So basically, OU might very well have the inside track at the BCS CG if Texas Tech can beat Oklahoma State next weekend. That would pretty much guarantee no worse than a 3 way tie for OU/Texas/TTech. OU winning out won't be easy, obviously. Will human voters jump OU over Texas? OU will be ahead of Texas in the computer polls if this scenario plays out. Texas still plays a decent Kansas team.
I personally think Texas Tech will lose 2 games before the end of the season, therefore leaving Texas and Oklahoma as the only one loss team in the Big 12 south. Texas will go to Big 12 championship and win (beating Missouri again). Then after Florida wins the SEC that home loss to Ole Miss could be the tie breaker and Texas' loss will be a better loss to a highly ranked team on the road.
