for the school, yes dumb rule for the conference, no give best shot at MNC game Hypothetically speaking, suppose Texas had been at around 6 or so in the BCS. Under SEC rules, they would go to CCG, not OU. That would all but eliminate the conference from getting a team in BCS CG. Voters have shown the last 2 years that they don't want non-conference champs in the BCS CG
OK, just did some number crunching. The computers will look something like this: OU- 1.00 (#1 across the board) UT- .94 (#2 in half, #3 in half) UF- .87 (a #3, a #4, and 2 #5) Florida must have 60% of the #1 votes in both human polls, and 30% of the #2's to make up the difference. If this happens: My BCS Final rankings guesstimate is: OU .9806 UF .9416 UT .9341 :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
I got .930 to .900 But if the computers come out like you say, then yes we will have a much closer finish. Texas protest voters anyone?
Texas has a legit case. In 4 consecutive weeks they played #1, 11, 6, 7. They won 3 and lost 1 to #7, which is a higher quality loss than Fla. loss to Ole Miss. A rematch would be a lot less interesting than Fla. vs. OU, but it could happen. With the SEC down this year, Fla. strength of schedule is not as high as it typically is.
The BCS is not perfect but had you told me at the start of this season that the Big 12 and SEC Champs would play for the title, I would've said that all is right in the world of the BCS. No Pac-1 No Big 10 No Big East No ACC NO Notre Dame Take the best two conferences (by far) and let their champs play for the title.
But then Texas Tech would have a right to complain. We need a playoff. Championships need to be decided on the field, not in the polls. Take the six BCS conference champs plus two at large teams and let em play. I know teams would still be left out, but it would be a lot better than this crap system we have now. SEC: Florida Big 12: OU Pac 10: USC Big 10: Penn St. ACC: Va Tech Big East: Cincy At-large: Texas, Bama
Coaches Poll is out..... 1.) OU has 1482 points or .9718 for BCS 2.) UF has 1481 points or .9711 for BCS 3.) UT has 1408 points or .9232 for BCS Harris Poll hasn't come out yet, and neither has the computer rankings. In last week's Harris Poll, UF was #2. I think the Polls are going to put Florida in.... 1.) Oklahoma vs 2.) Florida in the BCS Title game. #3 Texas will be .005 - .009 behind Florida in overall BCS average is what it looks like to me.
