Ok, I was feeling good about the Tigers getting into the NC...I still am but I have a quick question. How did #4 Nebraska, in 2001, go to the National Championship? How did they skip both 3 and 2 to get into the game? I can't find any info online about it to compare it to this season. Can anyone explain what happened that year to allow this to happen and could it happen again this year?
Nebraska had the "Georgia scenario", where they got held out of their title game. They got lots of love from the computers, in contrast to Oregon and Colorado, who were the two teams ahead of them in the polls. This was particularly bad because the last game Nebraska played was against Colorado... and they had lost. A clarification is that Nebraska was "#2 " in BCS standings, they were #4 in the human polls.
