We'll see. I was also happy to see them fight back and sad to see them have to absorb an official's screwup. Still, close games are the norm in college basketball so I won't give much credit for moral victories.
The difference from the first to second half was night and day. Lot less turnover's and much better defense.
Temple, Johnson, and Spencer played their tails off today, they just didnt have any help from the players who they are really relying on to score. I dont know why Brady took Temple out of the starting lineup, he should have taken out Martin bc with Temple out you dont have an Point Guard in the game. Anyway, hope we can find a chemistry bc we have pretty good talent. A work in Progress:milesmic:
I like to see the spirit in the young guys to not let up. Given the scheme of this team, we're going to see a lot of up and down games. Yes, we lost, but we didn't fold the tent when they could have and this is a little reminiscent of two years ago... I don't mind losing some close games early in a tough non-conference. The thing that makes me a little optimistic is that Marcus Thornton is the real deal. Anthony Randolph has huge upside, and Garrett Green looks a little more athletic and hustled harder than I would have expected. Bo Spencer (contrary to some of the folks on this board) might have a future as a good PG for us and seemed quicker and hit some outside shots (better trade out than Ben Voogd? ). We've got some decent young talent--even Jay Bilas said so! And, let's remember we didn't really have depth due to Tas' being hurt and Dameon Mason being out. We could sneak up on some folks... :geaux: :bball:
a bit overstated. mitchell was out. and thornton scored. only martin and randolph didnt score. defenses do have something to say about who scores-- randolph just didnt take many shots. you should actually be impressed. defenses will pick players to take out of the game and some players will occassionally be off their game. what a team needs just as much as consistent contributors are secondary players to take up the slack---like johnson, temple, and spencer did.
