I think it was all about him just waiting for the proper time. Here's a coach that came here as mostly an "unknown" to take over a program that was a year removed from a National Championship and has a fan base that's very demanding. He's waited his time....first, by letting his recruiting and wins do the talking...and now...now that he's got everyone's attention, he's talking AND recruiting AND winning! Dare I say it for fear of a jinx, but Les Miles could perhaps be the best advocate of LSU as any head coach we have had. He's approachable....you hear nothing but nice things about him from recruits, their parents and high school coaches....he doesn't use "mud-slinging" recruiting tactics....he brings in top-rated recruiting classes and high character players (I don't know if past coaches had so many 3.0+ GPA recruits since internet makes that info so readily today, but it seems like more and more of Miles' recruits come to LSU as honor students) and in his first two seasons, Miles has coached LSU to an SEC title game appearance and a BCS Bowl game victory.
