Art Briles from University of Houston. A very good hire for Baylor. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3131738 Houston Chronicle: http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=US&addtohistory=&searchtab=home&formtype=address&popflag=0&latitude=&longitude=&name=&phone=&level=&cat=&address=1912+Broadway&city=Nashville&state=TN&zipcode=
Briles is a very good coach. If he's successful at Baylor he'll be a wanted man in a couple years by some big programs. Baylor is a tough job though. Very tough.
He can handle Baylor. The U of H job when he took it was horrible. They could find no one to take it. He came out of high school coaching to take it. A great guy and a great coach.
he actually went to Tech for 2-3 years from Stephenville HS before going to Cougar High in Houston. Good coach but he just killed his career. If Leach leaves Tech for Arky or UCLA, expect Briles to hop over there in a heartbeat - maybe before he coaches a snap at Baylor. Baylor is absolutely deplorable - they have the most passive fan base of a BCS school and no other school has as much political strife amongst their regents and school management as they do. Off campus stadium is located in Waco's version of the Lower 9th. Baylor really needs to consider dropping out of the Big 12, they just can't compete - go play with TCU, SMU and Rice again. I go to about 1-2 Baylor games a year and I swear its like a high school game atmosphere. They bring in about 15-20K of their fans a game. In conference games the opposing school outnumbers them at home. Man, this is just a coaches graveyard.
TexTiger is right on all counts here. I don't know what's wrong with Baylor, but that's where decent coaches turn into future bus drivers. Guy Morriss seemed to have them on the right track, with a 5-6 season (shockingly good for both Morriss and Baylor.) Then he was booted. If Briles can go 6-6 there, he'll punch his ticket to another school in a heartbeat -- or at least he should.
If I recall Baylor is part of that stricht southern baptist school system. That would explain much of the fan base. I cant believe they paid Briles 1.9M however if they have anything its money. If Briles would have waited, he may have gotten a better offer from someone else.
Their, There, or They're? Their is a possessive pronoun. It always describes a noun. Note the spelling of their. It comes from the word they, so the e comes before the i. There is an adverb meaning "that location." It is sometimes used with the verb to be as an idiom. It is spelled like here which means "this location." They're is a contraction of they are. Note the spelling: The a from are is replaced by an apostrophe. Examples: Their dog has fleas. (possessive of they) I put the collar right there. (that location) There are five prime numbers less than ten. (with to be) They're 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7. (contraction of they are)
someone i think is a super coach and someone could do wonders at Baylor....i think he could have done big things in BR
