Wow that hurt... that would have been a good win if we had got it! I'm very encouraged by the way they played in the 2nd half tho!
I was thinking the same thing watching the game. He certainly is the most improved player on the team.
I see M. White only played 19 min and only had 2 fouls...I wonder if CTJ is sending him a message... I keep hearing he's a beast in practice, Its time for him to put it out on the court tho!
Maybe I was expecting to much from him but so far he has been a big disappointment. Storm Warren has done nothing this year as well.
I agree.... While playing the smaller schools i expected him and Storm to be putting up at least close to a double double... I wonder if Storm is 100%
ARGH!!! Man, this team has some fight in 'em. It's going to be both fun and pins and needles watching this team, but this was a serious effort. You'd like to congratulate the team for the keeping it closer than anyone expected, but it's another close loss. More consistency, more consistency is needed. But, let's commend Green for his effort, Turner for turning it on, and Trent for getting his young team back into the game. We just need some of these games to go into the W column. :geaux:
Like that we played the shockers close, but when you don't win some of these games it isn't really a good sign. Losing close in basketball is still losing, it's better than being blown out but it doesn't make you legit. Our signature win so far is... Houston? Central Michigan? I'm kinda disappointed so far and it looks like making the NIT might be a stretch. Trent Johnson hasn't over-performed so far this year. The losses have been close, the team is young, wait and see, but so far we aren't showing better than we should, for sure.
I would generally agree with you--a loss is still a loss and it not only hurts, but LSU didn't exactly capitalize on a "resume building" opportunity here. But, what you also have to say is this team was down to a pretty good team, didn't fold, and had a chance to win. I know some folks don't enjoy "moral victories" but I think back to the numerous double digit losses we had last year. This year, we look a lot better, more weapons on the shelf, more fight. Of course, we're 7-4 with an arguably softer schedule. But, it's still all about for this young team, are we improving and getting better for SEC play. I just hope that LSU fans will see that this year and come out to see them play. We can't expect these folks to be going from last in the SEC practically to winning it in one year. Now, as for whether Trent is "over perfoming" I guess it'a all a matter of perspective. Trent has kept his teams close, and frankly, I'd be a little harder on Trent if he had games and lost them. LSU's losses have generally been those where LSU has had to play catch up and do, but then falter at the end. That's simply a matter of inexperience and poor execution in the stretch. I think Trent has to be careful with this squad because he doesn't want to squash his freshmen. At the end of the day, I would have liked to see a resume building win tonight. Just wasn't meant to be. You'd like to see them win against NTexas and then against Virginia. For what it's worth this WSU team beat Virginia pretty handily... We just have to buckle down and go for the throat in these games and that's what the kids have to learn.
Heartbreaking. That would have been a huge win. I was keeping up with the score on gamecast, but I have an lsusports.net video account so I was thinking about checking out the game. Is it worth watching?
I actually didn't see the game. Thought I would catch it on CST, but it didn't show in my region. I guess I'd say, start watching from halftime. :yelwink2:
