Reed, a 6-foot-10, 220-pound power forward, originally signed with Florida last fall, but the Jackson, Mississippi, native asked for his release after Gators coach Mike White left for Georgia in mid-March"
24/7 sports scouting report on jalen reed: Has a great frame at 6-10 on which to put on weight. Has a feathery and fluid athleticism that could really maximize with more physical mass. Not nesessarily a high riser or vertical athlete but is an exceptional horizontal athlete. Has a lot of wiggle to his game and can create off the dribble. Shoots it well from the outside as a vintage skilled stretch four man. Has a natural fade on his shot which creates natural space especially when shooting off the dribble. Likes to take the dribble left and come back with a right hand hook. Also has the pull back jumper coming back to his left. Can score with his back to the basket but needs to become more physical. Has surprising comfort with the ball at his size. Defense is a question at this point because of motor and strength. The potential is there to be a quality versatile defender. Can really rebound the ball when the mindset is there. now we need reed to join with reid returning and maybe make the tournament after the ncaa forgives us
yunno would really be awesome for this team is that fat bastard transfer portal guy from latech, lofton. this team needs some heavyweight board men, bad.
this team has fair bit of depth at guard. team has less athleticism than before, but perhaps more skill. wilkinson, fudge, and gaines, those guys were all effort and world class speed and leaping, without a huge amount of ball skill. wade said in interviews he was learning as a coach to mix skill and athleticism, and working on the ideal mix. the previous team with thomas and smart and watford was a skill team. last year was an effort/athleticism team without guys you could count on for a bucket. one wonders how big of a difference miller would have made. this new team has lower ceiling guys, but perhaps with higher floors offensively. starters justice "juice" hill justice williams mwani w kendal coleman jalen reed bench guards trae hannibal cam hayes both of those guys are experienced guards that could play a lot. bench forwards/wings: derek fountain bench center: corneilous williams this is a team where efton reid needs to stay and get huge minutes and develop. he fits perfectly and would play massive minutes. note:justice williams was meant to redshirt last year but for injuries to guards. he was really a high school senior. his first game was at auburn, which is not ideal. he may actually be a pretty decent scorer.
Would it be wrong to think that basketball redshirt rules are different than football? If they are the same couldn't he redshirt this year just to gain that year back? I know its unlikely but in football they can RS at any time.
i believe he could redshirt, but i dunno why he would. now he has experience and opportunity. the redhsirt would have been best for early enrolees during first year to eat and lift and practice.
i did more research on jalen reed. he is pretty good. higher ranked recruit than, for example, gaines and murray. a big guy that can handle ball and bring it down the court. a press breaker like watford. you cant cause turnovers with a press when you have a big guy joggin down the middle of the court with good hands, just fling it high up to him and you are across midcourt already. this roster is not far away from being a potential tournament team, of course the NCAA being dumbfucks cant let us know the status on that until 2066
jon rothstein on twitter: LSU transfer Adam Miller tells me that he has cut his list to the following programs: LSU TCU
if miller returns, this lineup is screaming for a fast style with 3 guards on the floor 1. juice hill, trae hannibal, cam hayes 2. adam miller justice williams 3. mwani W derek fountain 4. jalen reed, kendal coleman 5. KJ williams, corneilous williams rumour has it that murray st big man KJ williams is just going through the NBA process and will need a year in the SEC to finalize his pro preparations. lets hear from efton, surely he has to be considering returning.
