do you have the EI package on dish? if so they have that channel where they show all the games in progress in a picture in picture type screen. for some reason selig isnt smart enough to realize the blackout games are still on there. better than nothing i suppose. regarding lowry, he wasnt a highly regarded prospect if at all. he got a look mainly because of dan haren, his teammate at pepperdine a few years back. he was successful when he got his chance though has struggled a bit since.
cold enough at the box. regarding pence, the ceiling on him isnt huge but hes one of those who can start for a long time. he has good power, hes huge and can run. made a name for himself amongst the elite at the arizona fall league. all the experts were there and said hes the most mlb ready of all the prospects. i guess evan longoria wasnt there. supposedly eric byrnes speed and power but much better defense in center. longoria is another dray prospect come to think of it. that team has insane talent. sucking for years helps but theres plenty of teams who always suck who never do half as well with prospects.
Yep, I have it on DirecTv. I did put it on the Game mix channel (although it was before the Angels/A's game started). Pretty cool channel. I may have to pony up the extra 40 bucks to keep it after this free preview is up. Although I may not, because there's only a handful of extra HD games associated with the add-on. But instead of showing the Texas/Boston game, I got a black box saying "Game may be available locally". Someone needs to inform MLB that people in extreme South LA does NOT catch Dallas' local channels. I was wondering why I'd never really heard of him. He seemed to have pretty good stuf earlyy, but the game was pretty boring, so I crashed before anything interesting happened.
nothing shows how stupid the baseball powers are more than that. they wonder why the american youth are becoming more disinterested by the day. blackout any team closest even if its 1000 miles away. they have no way to watch it even if putting up the money. its not nfl where theres 8 home games yet most can still be seen on the tube. its 81 local games and they want to blackout all of them out minus a handful on fox or espn. not only one team but both the rangers and houston. it doesnt help attendance nor are they hurting anyhow. it simply hurts their marketability yet they are too dumb to figure it out. they are lucky so many attend in spite of it. otherwise they would have to suffer from their idiocy and become hockey.
I've e-mailed MLB each of the last 2 years (this will be year #3) about this, and have yet to get a response. I was listening to XM 175 (MLB Home Plate) yesterday, and they had about 45 minutes worht of people calling in to complain about the same thing. One guy lives about midway between St. Louis and Chicago, and can't watch any Cubs, White Sox, or Cards games. It's more than 81 games though. If the local channel is airing the game, it's blacked out, even if it's on the road. I couldn't watch any of the Rangers series against the Angels even though they were playing in L.A. A guy from North of L.A. called complaining that he can't watch Dodgers games, because he's not close enough to catch L.A.'s channel 9, but is blacked out on dish, even if ESPN is carrying the game, that feed gets blacked out. It's even blacked out if you pony up for MLB.TV online, your zip code gets blacked out from any game in your "T.V. market". This wouldn't be a problem, if they didn't insist that EVERY zip code in America belong to at least one MLB team. I'm over 300 miles (in straight line) from the nearest MLB team. There is no reason why I should be in any of team's "home" market.
Watching the Angels/A's game tonight reminds me of how boneheaded a move it was for Boston to let Orlando Cabrrera go. At the time, I though replacing him with Renteria was a good move, but looking back now, Cabrrera has gotten better and better. Renteria was a decent hitter, but forgot how to play defense while in Fenway. Then came the Alex Gonzales project. Excellent foelder, but no stick. I have no clue what Theo is thinking by bringing in Lugo. He's an average fielder, and a below .300 hitter. The only place he excells is on the basepaths. Meanwhile, Orlando is steady in all 3 phases of the game. He has a good head on his shoulders, and always seem to know where the play needs to be made. Couple of doubles tonight, good baserunner, etc. etc.
i'm subject to blackout for the rangers, cards, royals, and astros. give me a freakin break. any other team they want to throw in while they are at it???:angryfire
Yankees/Red Sox sqauring off right now for the first of their 3134564 regular season meetings. Didn't take long to wake up the crowd. Pettite plunked Youkilis (Boston's #2 hitter) in the first. Will be interesting to see if Shilling retaliates later.
