The MLB blackout rules are probably the dumbest thing in all of sports, including the BCS, but excluding women's basketball.
    Nice hindsight.
The schedulers should be ashamed of themselves. I must admit though, I'm a bit curious why they can't play in the snow. They play in light showers all the time (and switch out the ball every couple of pitches.)

They finished the game last night in a light snow storm. Must be embarrassing for a team from New York to lose to a Domed team from Tampa in a snow storm.:hihi:

The D-Rays over the Yanks phenomenon is the least reported, completely bizarre story in baseball. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but since I'm a Yankees fan, and a D-Rays sympathizer, it's something I've noticed over the last three years or so. Completely inexplicable how TB gives the Yankees such trouble.

Baseball trends alway did baffle me. Another example, The Yankess have always had success against my BoSox, Boston pretty much owns Anaheim, but the Angels have the Yankees number. Even though Boston is a prennenial playoff team (except for last years meltdown), they always struggle against KC! This week was the first time they've won at KC since early '05.

yeah KC had won 6 straight against them til that last game.

vlad had some streak going where he had a hit in every game hes ever played against the rangers which is a lot. was batting close to .500 or something.

the drays elijah dukes is pretty sick. 6'3 250 playing cf. hes always been in trouble even moreso than delmon young. his dad is in prison for murder and his upbringing wasnt what you'd consider normal. i think he was drafted as a linebacker in the nfl as well.

drays are fun to watch and will drive managers insane with the speed and talent throughout the lineup. too bad their pitching is well below average.

the nats will lose 100+ games. horrendous. then again, they have to play quite a few games against the crap nl central which may balance it out.

That's the perk of being awful for so many years. They have essentially collected top 3 picks in the draft, and have a pretty solid line-up. Unfortunately for them, pitchers can take about five years to develop.

Dukes is a potential stud. There was a great article about him the other day at ESPN. Kid's had a tough life, and will hopefully mature and be a star in the league.

After going to a game at Tropicana, I became an official sympathizer of theirs. It's far and away the worst MLB baseball field that I've visited, and their dozen fans or so were awesome.

ill have to check it out. is it in their insider crap? i hate that site.

anyhoo, check out mr. hirsh's line from tonight against the pods.

6.2 1 er 8 ks 0BB with slick willy leading off.

meanwhile wandy rodriguez goes for the astros with nieve and pence in triple a. yeah thats right. the worst 3rd of a lineup in baseball history. ausmus, everett and the pitcher. id rather bump the pitcher up a spot like larussa pulled.

plus ausmus catching always brings a joy to my eye.

    did i mention jason hirsh?

:angryfire :po: :angryfire That was such an incomprehensibly stupid move, I shudder to even ponder it. Seriously, THREE YOUNG PLAYERS FOR A DAMNED RENTAL #3. Makes me freaking sick.

That trade is gonna hurt for a long time. Except for Roy O, Hirsh impressed me more than any other pitcher that has come through Round Rock in 7 seasons.

BTW, saw Pence play last nite and wasn't particularly impressed. Bruntlett stunk it up and starting pitcher threw batting practice. Mike Fontenot didn't play for the Cubs although he did play SS Thursday night. Express bullpen seems pretty solid. I was listening on the way home and it sounded sorta like an LSU game, Express battery at the time was Gothreaux and Ardoin. I left in the 5th, Express lost. Screw baseball when weather's in the 40s with plenty of north wind and your 1st base side seats face north. Cold in April just ain't right.:dis:

I was blacked out of the Red Sox/Rangers game yesterday (did I mention I hate MLB's blackout rules?), and for some reason, the Angels/A's game wasn't even carried on the Extra Innings package. So instead I had to watch the Yanks/Os, then Giants/Dodgers.

    Couple of notes:

I know it's early, but the Yanks appear to have something missing. They've commited a few errors already this year. The platoon they have going at first may end up costing them in the long run if they don't get some consistency there. Melky Caabrera isn't a great leadoff hitter, so they'd better hope Damon can return soon. Jeter fouled one of his foot, and limped the rest of the game until he was pulled in the 8th. Ray is one hell of a closer for Baltimore.

Noah Lowry on the hill for the Giants, looked pretty good through the first couple of innings, then I fell asleep. Anyone know anything about this guy? I've heard of him before, but never gopt to see him work before last night.
