LSU takes game one 2-1. Gausman pitched the entire game, with the game ending on a double play. Great pitching. Bats were quiet.
Vandy's pitcher got better as the game went on, but he had a lot of control issues early that we didn't take advantage of, coupled with some really lousy at-bats.
with last nights victory, LSU is now the SEC West Division Champions coming into today's games: LSU and South Carolina are tied for 1st in SEC, with Kentucky one game back and Florida two games back
That victory only clinched a share of the division title. There's still work to do. We still have to win the series. LSU takes care of business this weekend, next weekend in South Carolina is the kicker. Bats better warm up by then.
We already have the 1st round bye in the SEC tourny. LSU likely clinches a national seed winning 2/3 vs Vandy and 1 from SC. They do those things and winning the SEC is just lagniappe.
Georgia wins! South Carolina was down 5-1 going into the 9th and tied it up, but Georgia won 6-5 in the 10th. If we can take Vandy tonight, we are all alone in first place.
Gausman's complete game last night was the second of his LSU career. he also did it last year as a freshman vs Tennessee the guy for Vandy that singled in their only run last night was junior Mike Yastrzemski (grandson of Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski of the Red Sox). he's #2 on their team in home runs and was taken by the Red Sox in the 36th round of the draft
