Side note: Shout out to Ty Ross. He has 3 hits in this series, including the GIANT double he hit in the 9th inning Friday. For guy who has struggled a lot at the plate, it is nice to see him come alive against such great pitching.
LSU took an early 3-0 lead, but Alsup got rocked in the 4th. 10 of the last 13 batters he faced got hits. LSU gets another case of we-can't-hit-the-ball-when-it-counts-most-itis. Ross gets a lead-off double in the 4th, and he only moves to THIRD because of a 2-out error only for Hanover to strikeout. Yes, this Florida team is very good, but for a team that has made it's goal Omaha, getting guys in scoring position with zero or one outs and not scoring them (and frequently, not even advancing them) is a bad sign. 5-3 Florida
This is a very young LSU team that should get better as the season goes on. Florida isn't good, they are damn good. Definitely way too many men left stranded. But it is good to get such a test early before everyone gets the big head. There should be no doubt in any players mind that there is room for and need for improvement before they even think about Omaha. A large dose of humility/reality may do this team a world of good. There is a lot of talent on the field for LSU, they will be all right.
This may sound crazy, but this Florida team may be one of the most talented college baseball team ever.
Sanchez told him to stay at third, and, honestly, it would have been a close play at home. With only 4 outs left in the game, you can't afford to gamble for a run. For LSU to win, guys would have had to string together hits anyway.
He held him up because he didn't run hard from the start. had he hustled right when the ball was hit, he could have scored.
Got to hit w/RISP and hope Matty Ott finds himself. Our pitching was nearly as good as Florida's. If Eades pitches the 9th on Friday and Pigott doesn't make that impossible catch in the 1st on Saturday we win the series. SEC is tough, but we can win it.
