What a freakin idiot!!! I'm sure he got an earful in the stands after that dumb a*s move!!! Idiot!!! Thanks you jerk!!!
Dean should have just slapped the crap out of him. No wait, everyone in the stands should have formed a line to slap the crap out of him, damn jerk.
the other angle was more telling... wonder why they didn't show that view? i'm definitely not taking up for the guy, but when a series win comes down to something like that... well, then it's kind of hard to blame it all on the dude. it was a very boneheaded thing to do though. i'm sure he wasn't even paying attention to the game, but saw the ball coming and tried to catch it. stuff like that happens all the time in baseball. it was a very evenly played series regardless. LSU pitching did better this weekend, but it was vandy we're talking about, so i'm not sure how much of a factor that is. we really need to do a better job from top-to-bottom. this season will go down to the wire, that's for sure.
still looking for a clip of the other angle. sure there were mistakes and they added up. however, i believe that was the icing on the cake and the difference. we wont know if dean would have made the catch but it looked like had a good shot. it took the opportunity out of the hands of the team. you just dont pull that crap. sorry, i know its part of baseball, but its also why in omaha they caution you over and over not to pull crap like that, and why if you do, you will be escorted out out the stadium.
On the angle from Okie's clip, it looks like the fan is a row deep into the stands so you can't really blame him that much. Dean would have to have made a spectacular catch if the fan wasn't there.
i'm about 90% sure he'd have made that catch after watching replays over and over. but landry had a breakdown in CF, ott just isn't pitching with conviction anymore and mahtook was 0-fer the entire weekend -- those seem like more important issues to address.
i agree with you. but that interference likely directly altered the outcome of the game. however, as you said, there were mental lapses and breakdowns that are troubling that need to be addressed. ranaudo has the velocity on his pitches, but not the control. i wonder if something is going on in his elbow again. ott really has not been himself. he lost it when he started and hasnt been the same since. landry, well, that was a stupid stupid mistake. mahtook going 0-fer hurt a lot. this team is falling apart in all areas. its not just pitching by far.
nope. pitching appears to be getting better -- or at least not getting any worse. everything else is getting a lot worse faster than it's getting any better.
