im getting a ringing in my ears... So it's come to this. 34-19, 12-15 in the SEC after such a promising start. The worst month of baseball anyone can remember. Split series with Tulane and a loss to UNO. Bad pitching, anemic hitting, careless fielding errors. It could only be worse if the players started fighting each other. And yet here we are at the end of the season with one last ray of hope. Thanks to that promising start, we still have the upper hand in the 4-way tie for the last 2 spots in Hoover. The scenario's are pretty simple: Sweep and we are in, win 2 and we are in as long as Tenn. or Bama don't sweep each other. I don't even want to think about what happens if we lose the series to the cowbells. They have NO wins in the division. Anything less than a sweep is unacceptable. The Bulldogs (22-31, 5-22 SEC) are coming off a good win against Southern Miss, 16-9, in a back and forth match at home. Their biggest threat at the plate is 1B Connor Powers (.387, .706 slugging) batting in the 3-hole. Whitney and Stratton aren't impressive starters, but we couldn't hit off a kid with a 12+ ERA on Tuesday, so it's anyone's guess how this will go. It couldn't have been given to us better. We need a sweep to guarantee a spot and we get to face the 2nd worst team in the league to do it. We can wipe the floor with these guys, but only if we want to. We have to want to. Entire series is on Cox Sports. Summer is here. Temps in the 90's, humid, and %20 or better chance of rain every afternoon. Game 1-Thurs-7pm LSU - So. RHP Joey Bourgeois (4-1, 4.28 ERA, 53.0 IP, 27 BB, 40 SO) MSU - Sr, LHP Tyler Whitney (0-3, 6.31 ERA, 45.2 IP, 21 BB, 43 SO) Game 2-Fri-7pm LSU - Jr. RHP Anthony Ranaudo (2-2, 9.09 ERA, 32.2 IP, 19 BB, 31 SO) MSU - Fr. RHP Chris Stratton (4-3, 5.80 ERA, 71.1 IP, 36 BB, 69 SO) Game 3-Sat-3pm LSU - Jr. RHP Austin Ross (3-4, 5.27 ERA, 66.2 IP, 17 BB, 78 SO) MSU - TBA
The run back to greatness needs to start somewhere. Tonite is as good a nite as any. Wouldn't it be unbelievable if we sweep these guys, and then just go on a roll all the way thru the CWS. Ok I know, BIG DREAM.:geaux: :LSU231: :tigbas::tigbas:
as great as that would be, they almost don't deserve for that to happen because of the way they've been playing. but, like i said, i'll never give up on them, so...... :geaux:
Time to ring some bells! Let's geaux Tigers! First to worst to first all within two months! :thumb::tigbas:
Well, I can't think of a worse way to start. 6 pitches, 2 solo home runs. 2-0 MSU Bourgeois then walks the next guy. Pop-out. The next guy hits a triple to the wall. Mahtook lays out for it and is hurt. He hit the wall. 3-0 State.
