yeah. i can somewhat understand giving up as many runs as we did in this series because UGA has some really, really good hitters, but why we weren't able to score more runs friday and (especially) saturday is beyond me. pitching is definitely the achilles' heel of that club because they can hit and field really well.

Actually, Georgia is a good hitting team averaging 7 runs a game overall and over 5 runs a game in the SEC. Their pen is responsible for the losing record. We should have put up 15 runs yesterday. We hit the ball hard but always right at somebody and Georgia plays very good defense.

That said, I am nervous about our starting pitching right now.

But, Hey. Virginia lost a series to NC State this weekend and Arizona State and UCLA both suffered their 1 loss. Give me a series win and I'm happy. Ole Miss also lost the series to Tennessee who we whacked.:thumb:

yeah, you can't win them all. i'd be really, really shocked if the starting lineup this weekend isn't:

    friday - ranaudo
    saturday - matulis
    sunday - ross/bradshaw

bourgeois has had more than a fair shot. using matulis as a starter takes him out of position to be used in relief, but right now i think that a solid start is more important to stabilize this team. mahtook in the leadoff spot may be a blessing in disguise because there is NO way in hell anyone would take a guy who has scored the most runs in the SEC out of the leadoff spot... but in doing so, with watkins out, we have a very aggressive hitter leading off -- as they say, hitting is contagious. the bottom of the lineup needs to get in gear though. out of dishon, dozar, diddier or delatte someone needs to pick it up a notch. coincidence their last names all start with a "d"?
