And so the real season begins. SEC Baseball means more info than you could want is available, including this particularly good piece from the Expats. Arky is nearly a consensus #2 for the SEC title and a trip up here would seriously damage our race for the West. This is easily one of the toughest weekends we will have this year. Injuries/Changes *As of Friday Afternoon* Ranaudo still out. Matulis is definitely healthy and could get the nod on Sunday. Everyone else healthy and ready, Delatte could secure his 3B start with a good showing this weekend SEC Baseball also means... TV THIS WEEKEND!!!! All games will be carried LIVE on Cox Sports Weather Beautiful today and Saturday, low 70's. Rain late Saturday night, about 20 degrees cooler on Sunday. Game 1 Friday, 7pm LSU - Jr. RHP Austin Ross (2-0, 4.57 ERA, 21.2 IP, 6 BB, 25 SO) ARK - Sr. RHP Mike Bolsinger (2-0, 3.38 ERA, 21.1 IP, 5 BB, 19 SO) Game 2 Saturday 3pm LSU - So. RHP Joey Bourgeois (2-1, 4.74 ERA, 19.0 IP, 10 BB, 16 SO) ARK - So. LHP Drew Smyly (2-0, 1.80 ERA, 20.0 IP, 8 BB, 31 SO) Game 3 Sunday 1pm LSU - TBA ARK - Jr. RHP Brett Eibner (2-1, 1.23 ERA, 14.2 IP, 3 BB, 15 SO)
Finally, some TV action! I hope the team is ready for this weekend, because even though it's the opening SEC series it's going to be huge for the rest of the season.
so... how far do we drop after this weekend? i kid, i kid... but seriously unless our sticks are hot this weekend, i can see LSU losing 2/3 very easily. it will be some interesting baseball. we'll get to see what kind of fight this team has. it is time for guys like dean, gibbs, landry, mahtook to step up. wait... those guys are already producing. oh well, hopefully the pitching staff finds its groove! GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!
Hopefully pitching Ross tonight will help instead of holding him until Saturday. I think the short outing Bourgeois had last Friday was detrimental to the pitching situation for the rest of the series. If Bourgeois pitches well too, then we should be in pretty good shape.
