lsu fell to 5th in baseball america, down from 4th. not a surprise and i actually expected more. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/college/top-25/2009/267778.html in collegiate baseball, down to 6th from 3rd. http://www.collegiatebaseball.com/polls/divI/currentpolldivI.htm
the loss to usl really hurt. i didn't think we'd fall, but it's still early in the season and they like to move teams around. i'm starting to wonder if CPM's line-up changes aren't affecting this team. i trust in CPM, and we have a veteran team, but i just don't understand why we're in such an offensive slump. we have faced some really good pitching so far, and that will help a LOT now that we're in SEC play, i just hope that we can pull it all together. i want to see fewer base running mistakes and more offensive prowess. other than that, i think that our defense and pitching is doing just fine. the hitting isn't bad, it's just inconsistent--but that's baseball, and that's why i love it.
agree. and itsthe base running errors that irritate me. because it hasnt been one or two games. its a lot it seems like.
Illinois swept Akron in a 4 game series this weekend. The 3 pitchers who gave us trouble, Haig, Reeser and that freshman closer Chmielewski all pitched OK. Haig won giving up 1 run on 8 hits with 2 walks and 3 Ks in 6 innings. Reeser, who we couldn't touch, gave up 3 runs on 3 hits with 4 BB and 6 Ks in 6 innings. Chmielewski saved Reeser's win with 0 runs and 1 hit and no strikeouts in 1 inning. He only pitched in that one game. Illinois is 9-2.
