Sucks to be a fan of Rice (#5/#5/#6/#6/#11) right now. Only one of the five polls had Stanford in the Top 25, and that poll had them at #25.

And Tejas, who is supposed to be the greatest this season (ranked #1 in all 5 polls), nice to see them lose 5-6 today to NM of the Mountain West. They only beat NM 6-2 yesterday.

Sorry about that, I misread the score. Not a sweep yet, but Stanford leads Rice in the 2nd game of the doubleheader 5-4 in the top of the 8th.

Also, #3 Virginia loses to #16 East Carolina 6-1.

And the sweep of #5 Rice is NOW complete, falling 7-6 in Game 2 of the doubleheader to #30 Stanford. Not the way you want to start your season.

TT, clair's opinion is not a fact. Opinion vs. fact, huge difference, no?

Clair, quit joking around. LSU's 12-3 beat-down of Villanova in the opening game of the new Box was "very sloppy" to you? Are you sure you watched that game? Because I did. And that game got me jacked. Always nice to see the team start off with a dominating performance, and it was especially memorable to me being that we opened up the new Box with such a dominating performance. Remember, Coleman started and Dean got the first home run in the new Box (a 3-run homer in the 6th)? Couldn't get more epic than that. Are you sure you were there?

    As for facts:

In that game, LSU had 10 hits for 12 runs and only 1 error and only gave up 5 hits for 3 runs. Coleman pitched a five-inning shut-out, only allowed 2 hits, and struck out 8. It was awesome. Are you sure you were there?

LSU went up 4-0 in the 1st, 5-0 in the 2nd, 6-0 in the 5th, 9-0 in the 6th (off Dean's 3-run homer, the 1st home run in the new Box), 11-3 in the 7th, and 12-3 in the 8th (which was the final score). You can't ask for a better performance without having completely insane expectations.

As for the Indiana game of 2008, I didn't see that one, so maybe you are right that LSU was "very sloppy" in that one. But being that we won 7-1, I seriously doubt it.

I should have noted that I consider Les Miles to be an idol and a hero, and I think that it is an honor to Mainieri to include his name in the same breath as Les Miles.

Do you remember that all 4 LSU 1st inning runs against Nova last year were unearned because of Villanova errors? Did you know the 2 runners on base for Dean's 3-run HR were on base because of walks? etc... etc...

I am not taking anything from LSU's performance, but last year's team was in no way a polished product until about late April - early May at the earliest. The opening night game had far more to do with Nova crapping their pants in the atmosphere (3 errors and 8 walks) than it did LSU being amazing.

I think Mainieri knows a little more about what he sees than some here.

But with that being said, the good guys are 2-0 this year and I am very pleased with how Austin Ross looked. If he can be a low 4's ERA guy this year, it would be a huge lift.

    no, no, no!

silly boy, dont you know that NONE of our coaches know more than anyone here? in fact, they probably really dont know anything at all. when they win, its because they read tf and do what the coaches here say.

    :hihi:
