It's baseball. I expect many close games that shouldn't be and some surprising blowouts.

For me, the keys were Ott's and Ranaudo's continuing dominance, and some new fellas showing early promise. I'm stoked. Especially after basketball ...

    Top of the 6th:

The Gents hit a 3-run homer off freshman Michael Reed out of Houston, TX (he gave up a single, got a flyout, gave up another single, got a flyout, threw a wild pitch, gave up the 3-run home run, walked a batter, and then got a ground-out for out #3).

Going into the bottom of the 6th...

    16-3 Tigers

In the top of the 7th, the freshman Reed gives up another run. Walk, 4-6-3 double play, walk, single, another single (scores run #4 for the Gents), another wild pitch... and Coach takes Reed out of the game. Freshman walk-on Chris Cotton takes the mound and gets a flyout to end the inning.

In the top of the 8th, Junior Mitch Mormann of Iowa (6-6, 232), a highly touted JUCO transfer (drafted 17th round in 2008, 20th round in 2009), takes the mound for LSU. He gives up three runs. Single, walk, walk (bases loaded), sac fly (run #5 for the Gents), 2-run triple (runs #6 and #7 for the Gents), 6-3 double play to end the inning.

    22-7 Tigers
