I have a random question about the numbers in outfield. I am a little embarrassed that all the games I have been to I never noticed but there are two 19's (And 31-Pontiff, 15-Bertman).

At first me and my friend thought the numbers weren't actually retired, but looking at the current roster, none of the numbers out there are used.

Our second thought was one was a coach and one was a player, but I didn't write down the names and can't remember them.

I tried to google them, but came up short. Anyone got any ideas?

Ah, but I still don't get how two #19's are retired.

Was it just strange timing (ie, Smith played before McDonalds, McDonald's 19 was retired, then Smith died and they honored him also?)

    Just kinda threw me off!

yep skip did it to honor him once they did bens. it would have been in bad taste to retire bens and not acknowledge a fallen tiger.
