It's time to right the ship. We have got to get out of this funk and soon if we want to get back into SR hosting contention. Taking a series at RPI #1 UF will go a very long way towards that goal. And this wont be any easier than the Rebs last weekend. The Gators have a great pitching staff, with starters who all have an ERA of 3.65 or better and an ace closer in Kevin Chapman (1.59 ERA, 7 saves). They play the best defense in the league. Watch for Daniel Pigott and Austin Maddox at the plate. Interesting that CPM has not given a Saturday or Sunday starter. Is it a motivational tool to get the battery going again or does Mainieri have something more serious in store? TV is again all over the place, but all 3 will be carried. Note that if you have a schedule from early in the year, tonight's game has been moved back an hour to accommodate a hellacious parking problem due to UF's Commencement tonight. Mahtook hit a grounder to 3rd and the throw to first pulled the 1B off the bag, but he was still called out. 1-2-3 inning for LSU Ranaudo gave up back-to-back-to-back hits. 1-0 UF after 1.
Gibbs leads the inning with a base hit to center. Gaudet follows with a single on the first pitch. Landry hits it to the 1B who gets Gaudet at 2nd. Landry reaches. Landry gets BADLY picked off, but the tag is never made... Still he is called out. That 1B ump doesn't see very well. Edward grounded to 2nd. Ump cost LSU a run there. Two lead-off singles.... LSU gets nothing out of it.
Ranaudo still does not have what he had last year. 6 hits in 4 outs... He just gave up a 3-run homer. 4-0 UF Next batter bunts it to Ranaudo who makes a bad throw and pulls Dean off the bag. 6-4-3 DP.... but the damage has been done, and LSU is in yet another game 1 hole.
That 1st base ump called Dean off the bag on Ranaudo's throw from fielding the bunt. I think that ball was in Dean's glove before he pulled off the bag. DP from the next batter negated him anyway.
