So AU should be worried about Bama, because they were only able to beat a team that beat Bama last season 34-0? They are a lot like us...new system, QB, coordinators. They have bugs to work out, and ULM is a bug working out opponent. I wouldn't take them lightly.

Clemson may be overrated, but those two RBs they have are good and Bama's defense stepped up. Julio Jones is the real deal, and Bama has it's own stable of RBs.

Auburn gets a shutout in it's first game with a new offense and QB.

I'd say the SEC just got tougher, to steal a line from CUM.

Agreed. JPW looked good, new off. coord. helped I think. Saban made a mistake with the young OC last season, ran him off, got a new one IMO.

    Ole Miss improved also.

Bama, barring injuries, will be a force to contend with this year. Wasn't their top running back last year their fourth back last night? Clemson may not be in the top half of the SEC but their defense was reported to be strong and their quarterback and running backs have been outstanding. Alabama dominated both lines of scrimmage and their skill players made plays.

It is easy to get up for one game especially if you're the underdog. We played a sound game, we didn't make the big mistake and we controlled both lines of scrimmage (defensively and offensively).

But it is only one game and a long season ahead. I was very pleased with a lot of things I saw last night but again, that wasn't an SEC team last night. We benefited from a Clemson team that though has excellent talent just has this problem of playing on the national stage and with expectations.

If we're playing this way in November then I'll get excited. But right now I'll take the win and enjoy it but understand it is just ONE game.

    Roll Tide!!!

yeah, gus was the name of the mule. thank you very much!

anyway, there will be no end to the bama smack talk now that they've beaten the hell out of a top 10 ranked team, even if it was overrated Clemson.

we'll see what they can do against the real defenses of the SEC.

The heads are already smacking it up with the roll tide nonsense!

They'll probably jump in the Top 10 soon with all the yack.

Well, us gumps can't help what the talking heads say about us, whether it be premature, not merited at all or whatever. I do know that I'm seeing a very different bama fan base after this win than the one in 2005 when we blew out UF and everybody was screaming "Bama's back!!!". Sure we still have some gumps here and there that never change but there is a definite difference now compared to then in our fan base.

From this gump's perspective. We did what we were suppose to do. I think Clemson is overrated but that ain't Bama's fault. That's TBowden's and his staff's fault. They dang sure have the talent. We played the team that was on the schedule and our players played their hearts out.

Respect comes with winning on the field and doing it for an entire season. Right now the LSU's, Auburn's, Florida's & Georgia's are basically making a joke out of our win against Clemson. But then again, can you blame them? Respect is earned on the field and I hope last night was the first REAL step in getting back to the top.

Agreed BB. It was a good win against a program that probably was overrated. But it is so hard to judge this early in the season. The Tide looked good. Congrats.

Preach it brother. We started off 6-2 last season and folded like lawn chair. I told the boyz on tidefans that I'm not getting truly "excited" until we're playing that way in November. I'm still excited because of the win but I'm keeping it in perspective. It was JUST ONE GAME.

Congrats on Appy St. I hope all is safe in BR with the 'Cane coming. I hate those things.

Still, I thought I saw some depth that I didn't expect. This bodes very well for Bama in a rough league like the SEC.
