In the 80s (and maybe 90s), there were always a few bare footed kickers and punters in the NFL. I haven't noticed any in the past decade or so. Have there been any that I'm missing? Are those types of kickers gone forever?
This guy punted bare foot at LSU, great baseball player. Skip once said that Clay was one of the more talented kids he had ever coached. TheGoal.com: Clay Parker
for some reason the only one i can remember right now is Rich Karlis, i think his name was for Denver.
Yeah, I thought that I remembered one for the Broncos (or Bears), definitely somewhere that had really cold weather late in the year.
The kicking shoes that are used by pros today are so well designed that there is no need to go barefoot anymore.
That's the question I used to ask when I was a kid, "How can a bare foot be better than the special shoes kickers use?" Maybe the shoes back then weren't as good as I thought.
Well... you used to be able to buy a kicking shoe or just use soccer cleats. Now you can get a shoe specially molded for your foot that fits basically like a sock with cleats.
