Get em while they're fresh n hot... Bandit's Key Matchups: LSU Defense vs Florida Offense and Bandit's Key Matchups: LSU Offense vs Florida Defense
Didn't understand the part about Florida not having "talented" players on defense. I suspect it's filled with blue chippers throughout. Inexperienced a bit, maybe? Talented? Heck, yeah.
Look at who they played though. Not that their D isn't stacked pretty well, but if we played the schedule they did, we may have 15 interceptions.
North Carolina- T.J. Yates (28-46, 412 yds, 3 TD 0 INT) Vanderbilt- Larry Smith (8-15, 70 yds, 0 TD 0 INT) Miss. State- Chris Relf (5-10, 81 yds, 0 TD, 3 INT) Tyler Russell (5-8, 35 yds, 0 TD, 2 INT) West Virginia- Gino Smith (14-29, 119 yds, 2 TD, 1 INT) Tennessee- Matt Simms (12-23, 121 yds, 0 TD, 0 INT) What about the QB's the Florida D has faced? Miami Univ.- Zac Dysert (25-44, 191 yds, 0 TD 4 INT) South Florida- B.J. Daniels (5-20, 84 yds, 1 TD 4 INT) Tennessee- Matt Simms (19/31, 259 yds, 2 TD, 2 INT) Kentucky- Mike Hartline (21-39, 242 yds, 1 TD, 2 INT) Alabama- Greg McElroy (11-17, 84 yds, 0 TD, 0 INT) Over two-thirds of their picks came in their first two games. Problem: you aren't going to convince me that either of our QB's is a significant improvement over USF's B.J. Daniels. Maybe not any worse, but certainly not much better. Simms had success throwing the ball against them, but Tennessee had to throw because they couldn't run the ball and were trying to come from behind. And Florida got some picks and some breathing room to win the game. Alabama, on the other hand, could run the football, and were able to limit McElroy's exposure to their secondary. If we can run the football, we'll be fine. If they stone us dead cold like they did Poole and Tennessee, it's on Lee/Jefferson to move the offense.
Had to go back and make sure I didn't say that...and I didn't. What I said was, they're not "just talented", they will play disciplined, well coached defense. Just like LSU. :thumb:
