Well said Bandit and I agree totally. I'd like to add that there are few, if any teams, that would run the Florida Bama gauntlet undefeated, yet Les Miles is expected to or else.
Personally, I hope Miles is our coach for a long time. I like the guy in every way except one- he is stubborn to a fault, whether it is in playing upperclassmen over more talented underclassmen or sticking with something that isn't working (JJ). But that seems to be based on genuine affection and loyalty to his players. He is an excellent recruiter. Despite the media portrayal of him as a coaching Gomer, his players seem to love him and he has true character and is the kind of man I'd like my son to play for. I believe Miles is a decent QB and OC away from contending for another crystal ball and I have to believe that will be addressed this spring. I respect that he doesn't publicly bash his staff and players, though it is sometimes frustrating to us fans who want him to "get it". He "gets it". Hang on. Stay with this team. Let's see what Miles does to correct the offensive problems. He did a pretty good job two years ago fixing the defensive problem. Anyone who thinks Miles has run this program into the ground doesn't know LSU history. I get as frustrated as the next guy with our offensive ineptitude but these are still good times and this LSU team is a team to get excited about. Let this team know you are still behind them.
I don't have numbers but I'd venture to say he plays as many fresh/soph as any coach. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong here.
After this weekend, LSU should be 5-0 with both of our cupcake games ahead of us (ULM and McNeese) giving us 7 sure wins. That leaves ole miss, bama, auburn, arkansas, florida and a bowl game. If we split those games, and I think we can, we finish with 10 wins and Les is going nowhere. Fan can grumble till the cows come home, but Les would have to lose all six of those games to get fired.
I would love to think so, but I believe it is more a matter of necessity. A lot of turnover this year.
I look at it like Celtic Tiger does. He plays the best player at every position...and always has. Of course, there will be OPINIONS that disagree, but there's nothing to disprove this.
