You keep going back to the point that you and others, for better use of words, don’t abuse the drug. That’s fine, but it is illegal for a reason. Just like it is illegal to drink and drive.

They could legalize it tomorrow and a ridiculous amount of people would be driving high on the road. How are they going to test for that? What about the work place?

Either way, the point of doing it because you feel that you can’t get caught is really childish. It is illegal for a reason and I believe for the good of society. I personally do not want to walk into a bank and have a bunch of High people try to help me out…

People will take advantage of it and we all know it and it’s not like alcohol where we can smell it. You can easily cover it up...

Like you said, your not an idiot about and I am willing to bet that a number of people will smoke and go to work with hardly anyone noticing.

If it were legal, routine traffic stops would have to change laws to arrest people who smoke and drive. Though, you would probably still say it’s a dumb law…

it is illegal for reason's yes. ludicrous reasons however. is marijuana harmful? maybe to the respiratory system if you smoke it. to the brain? maybe to an undeveloped brain. Is is hypocritical to allow adults to consume something that contributes to over 500,000 deaths a year, but say something that kills no one should be illegal? The fact is that marijuana was made illegal originally because white people thought it made black people rape white women. There were also giants in the cotton industry and tobacco industry who could not allow this this plant to be legal. There are also now drug companies who fuel negative propaganda who cannot allow a plant that grows naturally upon this plant to usurp their pain medications. We live in 2010. If you don't like marijuana, don't ****ing smoke it. If you don't want your kids to do it, you may actually have to get off your ass and parent. If you don't want to do that, keep your dick in your pants and stop spreading your legs. Or just do like you normally do and stick your kid in front of the tv so they can see all the great liquor and beer ads, and become rude obnoxious drunks instead of peaceful potheads.

If you haven't smoked pot before you aren't qualified to give a good opinion on its effects to people in a working or social setting, especially driving vehicles. I know a doctor, but that doesn't mean i am qualified to make an educated opinion on surgery.

as far as walking into a bank and having a bunch of high people help you out, how many of those clerks are on prescription pain meds, xanax, or valium? How many drunks do you run into on a daily basis? If Pot is illegal, so should alcohol, tobacco, and anything that makes you feel good. **** it lets ban sex too, you could contract a disease, and spread it to everyone else, killing people left and right....

by the way, i don't know if you have kids, and i am not calling you out personally on parental skills, was more like a broad generalization.

IMHO, a major reason it is still illegal is because there isn't a short term field test that can show how "high" you are. I never thought it made me a bad driver, in fact it makes a long interstate drive a lot better, but it will affect people differently and the research shows it increases reaction times.

If it were ever legalized there would have to be a test that allowed employers and authorities to measure your level of highness, not that you have smoked in the last week.

That is the only anti-legalize argument that holds any water, again IMO.
