It's easy to see how Saban can justify his comments. He is just looking in the mirror and describing himself.

But if agents are pimps, then what of big-time college coaches?

A pimp says, You’re my girl.

    I’ll always be here.

    I’ll make you a star.

    What does a coach say?

    You’re my guy.

    I’ll always be here.

    I’ll make you a star.

    Here is a retort:

"I don't know that I would disagree with him about some agents as pimps, but all I know is there are coaches who would also fall in that category," said the 60-year-old Cindrich, who represents NFL players. "I would never tolerate nor permit Saban or any other coach to lump me in that category.

"In terms of him throwing that out there, most agents know what goes on in college programs and what programs are clean or not. You want to find out who has the dirty programs, give immunity and go off the record with agents, and it would be like a cockfight, the last one standing wins.

"There are ways to determine the truth of allegations out there."

    ....

Cindrich said if the coaches really want to know which of their players might be on the take, it's not hard to figure out.

"You have to not want to know," Cindrich said. "All you have to do is walk out in the parking lot or look at the 'bling' or have someone visit their room."

See, that's the trouble with throwing stones.

Sooner or later, someone might throw some back.

    Please. :nope:

These players know right from wrong. These players are drilled on the rules as part of thier football orientation, and compliance is constantly messaged by the department's compliance staffs throughout a player's career.

College football is an individual choice. When you agree to play for a big-time program, you're commiting to follow the rules designed to protect the athletes, university, and the game itself.

My point is the players themselves are just as guilty, if not more guilty, than anyone else - agents, coaches, boosters, and the NFL.

Nobody should be placing blame on agents and the NFL without first getting thier own house in order. To do so is either hypocritical or complete naivety.

Nobody is saying that players shouldn't be allow to go to such events. The NCAA has a pre-aproval process for players that desire to attend marketing events. Mark Ingram attending the event held in DC is an example of someone who followed the process correctly. But these players in Miami completely avoided the established NCAA process ...... and ignorance of the rule wasn't the reason why.

Everyone, Everywhere Has To Do Some Cheating, Says NFL Agent

On Nick Saban's comment that agents are "no better than pimps:"
"First off, that's taken a little bit out of context because he said, 'some of them.' Certainly, I would agree with him in some respects. At the same time, any time that Nick Saban would like to put his record up against mine, I'm willing to do that in any form."
On if there is a difference between how college coaches and agents recruit:
"No. And old Nick knows that. I've seen him out on the road a time or two. He's contacted a client of mine or a family member of a client of mine. I know what goes on out there and he knows that I know. The bottom line is that to stand up on a pulpit and start preaching that way — and maybe I'm doing it, take a shot at me — that bothers me, especially when it comes from a guy like Nick Saban."

See Oklahoma as an example of different jobs student athletes can have...of course, that didn't work out well for them.

Teams on probation have to be very careful about everrything. Bama has to be walking on eggshells right now.

They are...because if penalties come out of this, they're likely to be severe. And Saban, who has no buyout clause in his recent contract extension, can basically walk away with no penalties.

Can you imagine if Bama gets a USC like smack down from the NCAA and Saban walks? I'd pack some snacks and drive up there just to watch the "Melt Down in T-Town."
