That's how we buy cool new things that the high school recruits really dig, I hope. Alabama did OK with total revenue at $124.8 mil. LSU no slouch at $114.7 mil, spending only $101.9 million. Very thrifty. I did notice that LSU had a mysterious, OTHER, category, in defining their total revenue. Not that there is anything wrong with that, just mysterious. There has been some speculation that this benevolent, OTHER, is none other then the second most interesting SEC team in the land of purple. Just our way of giving back.
Why would Bama accept subsidies when the program is perfectly capable of sustaining itself? As for the 'Other' category, don't think for one second that you guys don't have some type of slush fund tucked away for someone associated with the program to use at your coach's discretion.
So LSU has a slush fund and you're righteously indignant at Bama for accepting subsidies? Something all universities do, but for the magnificent seven. In sports, dollars = success, how you count it at the end of the day would be immaterial. What to do, if the new end zone project gets too expensive? No sweat, I know where you can put your hands on a few extra bucks.
I'm 'righteously indignant' because Bama has a slush fund AND they accept subsidies. It just reeks of greed to accept tax payer money for a program that can sustain itself. On second thought, it IS Bama we're talking about, so I don't know why I'm so surprised.
Yes teams get huge donations whenever they are winning, both LSU and Bama have it. I just don't get why a program that more than fully sustainable (you guys made a shitload more than us) is still taking tax payer dollars
I wonder who will be first to take a crap in the water and watch it go over the fall. Don't tell me you did not think this, but I put it out there....so to speak!
Only 7 universities refused subsidies. I was kinda wondering what's wrong with you guys. Whatever it is, new weight room, stadium addition, waterfall, NCs, the kids are coming to take a look and plenty of good ones are staying. That is the name of the game.
