Now Vman, I've spoken on the subject and given some of my personal observations. TerryP is pretty much on it and so is red. The unsportsmanlike part of this for a defenseless player is total nonsense. I recall Robinson of Michigan throwing an interception to Milliner and thereby trying to stop his momentum by running to him to make the tackle. Murray was heading that way AFTER a good run back. Nothing defenseless about that football move. The fact he took a more passive-aggressive approach then Robinson, was problematic for him. The shoulder came first and then the helmets did smack. 15 yards and get on with the game.

High school officials are very much different from SEC officials....they're generally very much better !!! :D

I sure seem to remember LSU getting penalized quite a bit when Aladeen was our coach, but now he is disciplined?

I can believe that. But that's very different than a conspiracy at the SEC offices. I don't buy that.

LOL...I figured that would be your take.....guess your looking at it through crimson glasses. There was absaloutely NO shoulder involved.....it was helmet to helmet. Problem I had with it was the ref was supposed to be trailing the qb to make sure that stuff like that doesn't happen, because that's when teams are known to take free shots on the QB, and mr bug eyed ritter was not trailing, but your right their should have been 15 yards involved but there was not. I will just be curious to se if the sec office follows up with this or just lets it go away.

    You're wrong and right here.

Did the SEC suspend him? No. Why would they when he was suspended for the next game by the coach?

Not continually CC. LaMichael Fanning was disciplined internally by Alabama/Saban per SEC office instruction. He didn't see the field IN THE NEXT GAME. LaMichael is an enthusiastic rs freshman, who up till then had a total of 4 tackles for the season. He was in the contest because the game had turned into a blood bath. What would the league suspending this kid, who may not play much beyond clean up, have proven? In any case, Saban had LaMichael call the coach and apologize. LaMichael then wrote a letter of apology to coach Pinkel and Russell Hansbrough.

Fine, Saban handled it internally. The league needs to step in anyway to show it will not tolerate thuggish behavior.

And had that happened, coach Saban would have still coached Fanning up in the manner that he did. Unsportsmanlike penalties, regardless of what Richt preaches, will hurt championship caliber teams. You should know, you saw Les face and body language, when Copeland and one other kid, decided to involve themselves in some extracurricular activity. It will always, always, hurt the team.
