This guy was going to be one of the top picks in the NFL draft and a string on idiot moves may cause him serious money and credibility. 1st he is sent home from the Sugar Bowl preparations for violating team rules, rumored to be signed with an agent. Then he shows up to the Combine out of shape. And now he had NFL teams searching for him at the combine unable to find him because he left without telling anybody. Todd McShay(sp?) of ESPN is now confirming this story. :dis: http://www.cincyjungle.com/2009/2/22/767743/andre-smith-a-case-of-idio
It actually comes off looking a bit worse when you consider that his agent claims he flew home to get in a couple workouts. :insane: And when he stood in front of everyone to say he wasn't going to participate his reasoning was that he wasn't prepared and would just wait for pro day. Like they said, it's the interview of your life and you say you're not prepared? Wow. He'll still go mid round 1 I think but definitely cost himself several million. Crabtree is the one I'm surprised at. Yesterday he said he was going to have the surgery and skip his pro day but today he's saying he'll run on pro day. That's a lot of training to continue with when you have a stress fracture.
Smith is not getting good advice. Crabtree said he has had the stress fracture for a while and does not adversley effect him, so he is going to run his 40 then have surgery. I like the attitude. Not sure that is good advice though. I guess if he runs bad you can claim a broken foot but at least you tried. You have to like the effort.
Of course, Smith is not getting good advice. If he was, he wouldn't have had to miss the Sugar Bowl. His agent is obviously a big problem. As for Crabtree, if he's really injured, he might've been better off returning to TT for next year. Dorsey and several others who might've considered leaving early all came back to LSU for their senior years because they weren't 100% for the combine or pro days.
Could be an expensive lesson. He has a lot of azz to kiss and a lot of impressions to overcome before April.
1. It was Andre's uncle who spoke with an agent. Andre was sent home just to be double damn sure nothing went wrong. The violation of team rules was Andre refused to turn over all his cell phone records. It possibly cost us the Sugar Bowl. 2. Andre's agent is not Jimmy Sexton but Alvin Keels. 3. Andre will participate at Pro-Day probably a more comfortable environment for him.
