Here is my 2 cents...last year bama had Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson, Julio Jones, and a fifth year senionr as QB(name escapes me at the moment) we handled them very well and beat them...this year they have Trent Richardson, and our defense is MUCH MUCH better than last year! I beleive we stop the run and make McCarron try and beat us through the air, which I dont think he can. LSU wins this by 18! GEAUX TIGERS!
This is reason #1 LSU wins if LSU wins. 1a is turnovers and reason #2 is the effectiveness of our running game. Yes, I said our running game. If we can run the ball, we'll be able to pass.
Here's my take......if we are able to LIMIT Alabama's rushing yards...their in trouble. I think Alabama's secondary combined with sabans blitzes leaves bama very vulnerable to a good passing game, I think LSU can pass the ball against bama which will open up our run game......if that happens bama has no shot. I really really feel like the nation will come away from this game with a realization of how good LSU's offense really is. I'm not saying LSU wins by 18 or anything but I really feel like LSU wins this one. If you listen to ALL the talking heads out there.....they are all saying Bama wins this one.......just more motivation for LSU(as if they needed anymore) I was up in Tuscalusa last week for work....I was very shocked at exactly how worried alot of bama fans were. They ALL are worried about their QB.
Number 3 is 1 guy and last time I checked his name isn't Vince Young, Tim Tebow, or Cam Newton. LSU will be fine.
I agree. The QB position would be much more a worry for this LSU defense than a RB. We just need to stay disciplined and tackle well. You know that's being severely stressed the entire 2 weeks leading up to this game. Richardson will have his big gains of 8-15 yards here and there, but it's the other carries that we limit between 1 and 3 yards vs 4 to 7 yards that the most important. Defensively, 2nd and 9 vs 2nd and 4 is what will decide our fate most likely. You only need 1 series of downs to get that Bama offense off the field. First down run defense will go a long way towards that end.
Ingram put up 97 yds and 1 TD last year. A good game, but not enough to win the game single handed. I expect something similar this year. 80-100 or so yds for Richardson. He is a good running back, not a god.
No .. it's better than that! We just have to limit T. Richardson's "big plays". He can run for a piddly 3-4 yards all game long, and it won't help them. He can rack up a 100 yrds, and they still will lose. The kicker is to limit his "big plays". His "hiesman moments". Without those to spark the Bama offense ... they will get bogged down. The flip side ... we have to complete our big plays. RR has more on his shoulders in this game than he can imagine.
I get what you're saying, but don't undersell Richardson. He is not a "good" running back. As much as it pains me to say this, he is the best RB in football and at this point deserves the Heisman. .
