Actually he didn't. We continued to throw the ball but when your OL continues to blow blocking assignments and your QB/WR aren't on the same page (and he gets picked) you do something different. He stayed with the pass long enough that if it was going to work it would have. Also smart coaches play toward their team's strength. It makes no sense when the passing game is up and down, your qb has already thrown a pick, your pass protection is suspect NOT to run the football which is what we do best.
Doesn't this speak for JPW's ability to get rattled in pressure situations? Cody to get an MRI, hope it is minimal. When I speak of exposure, my mention is this is still a young team that does not out perform well played pressure. I didn't mean to sound crude. :thumb:
JPW played quite well, and the offense really couldnt get on the field yesterday in the 2nd half. If you watch Sabans pc you can tell he really gives a lot of the credit to Ole Miss. They played well in the 2nd half. Ole Miss is not a team I am extremely excited about playing.
I think overall we've played well under pressure considering how many freshmen are on the field for an entire game. Does it look pretty? No but when they come out with a win then at the end of the day they've handled it well. JPW is a game manager and so far in his career has proven that we cannot throw the game on him and expect to win. It takes us being able to run the ball and play sound defense. Saban wasn't "being conservative" because that's what he wanted to do. He had to so he did. We are very talented at the WR position and Saban has been wanting to open up this offense all year. But until we get better (in passing) at what goes on at the OL and the QB position then we'll keep pounding the ball. But if we can get the passing game going we will be very hard to beat.
