Again, I've never been one to say "Miles recruits/Saban recruits." I've said player development more than a few times. The cupboard isn't bare. There is talent on this team. However, changing a mental attitude is something that doesn't occur overnight, does it? They came out flat, no doubt. They didn't pick it up.
Three things: 1: Would saban be so bold to follow the General's lead from a few years back? http://espn.go.com/ncb/news/2003/0310/1521422.html LUBBOCK, Texas -- Bob Knight's income tax return next year is bound to look a little odd. Knight told Texas Tech to keep his salary -- all $250,000 of it -- because he didn't do a very good job coaching, and neither did his team. The story was first reported by ESPN's Jay Bilas on Monday evening. "I'm just not at all satisfied with what transpired with our team in terms of our fundamental execution. I don't think it's anybody's fault but mine," Knight told The Dallas Morning News for Tuesday's editions. "He has standards," men's basketball spokesman Randy Farley said Monday. "He just didn't meet his standards, and so he said, 'I don't think I should be paid for that.' " Texas Tech athletics director Gerald Myers said it has not yet been determined what will be done with the money. 2: Is this guy the lowest paid head coach in D1 or whatever it is now called? http://www.tuscaloosanews.com/article/20070726/NEWS/707260338/1004 Louisiana-Monroe coach Charlie Weatherbie signed a new contract in February that has a base salary of $150,000 -- up from $125,000. 3: How did so many people misunderstand DJ Hall's suspension, that is really was only for a half? Even Eli got it wrong. http://blog.al.com/tidecorner/2007/11/no_dj_hall_johns_starts_at_rb.html First, DJ Hall will not play due to what is being called a "violation of team rules." The Tide will likely be fine without Hall against ULM, but it must be disappointing for him to miss senior day. Note to Alabama players: Follow team (Saban's) rules. Seriously.
At this point I would doubt even diehard bama fans, or anyone else for that matter, are doubting CLM coaching ability. It was a stupid arguement to start off with after all he had already accomplished at LSU, even prior to the start of this season. Also Saban and Bama are going to take their knocks in his first season there, but Saban is a good coach and I believe he will be able to turn that program around, probably just not as quickly or to the extent that bama fans tend to believe. But I really don't expect him to be a total failure, even though it's not looking to good up to this point. Things will come around. Hold your head up Bama fans.
There was a caller on the post-game show that was at the Bama game and he said that Saban bolted straight for the locker room after the game. He did not go to midfield to shake hands with ULM's coach or players. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
Good god man, for how long will bama nation use that excuse? aren't we 9 games into the season and still don't have the mental attitude to beat ULM? Isn't that supposed to be one of Sabans strengths?
This is the WORST loss in Alabama HISTORY!! I can hardly believe that it happened. Something's wrong with the team and/or the coaches. Something's not right. The LSU Saban would never lose this game after losing two in a row. The Bama Saban is not the same. But what can the Bama Nation do now? They have no choice but to whistle past the graveyard and continue to blame everybody in the world except for Saban. :crystal:
LA TECH beat them some time back, can't remember when. But this is the worst loss. When you get caught paying players it takes some time to come back. Your rep. is injuried for a long time. bama can not get the respect back by hiring coaches. bama is lucky they are not just like SMU.
:hihi: :hihi: :hihi: LMAO ..... that quote reminds me of another widely distributed quote a few seasons ago:
