Perennial? One year removed from finishing 7-6, which was a one game drop from the previous year at 8-5—boosted to eight wins playing a Penn State team in the Outback that finished 7-6. Should I mention UF reaching that seven win mark by beating one Ohio State who finished their regular season at 6-6? Florida is a good program. No doubt. Tennessee has had to deal with making some very stupid decisions over the few years. Some of the comments here about UGA throw me for a second when I look at that team and see they've won four games against top 20 teams since 2008—having played close to 20.
So for the last two years, Florida has been average to slightly above. Tennessee at the same time has stunk up the conference. In fact, other than the Peyton years, Florida has been decidedly better than UT since 1992. I use that year because its the year the SEC created the 20-year long schedule inequity of "traditional rivals." Before then, the idea of Florida and LSU being traditional rivals was absolute fiction. But the SEC had to find a way to cave in to its home-boy Bama, and its lesser home-boy Auburn, and allow them to keep UT and UGa as yearly opponents. It has a chance to easily fix this issue now that we've had another conference expansion. Even if they want to keep up this fantasy of Mizzou being an East Division team, you just go with an 8 game conference schedule. Each team plays its 6 divisional rivals and 2 from the other division on a rotating basis. Bama has to have Tennessee every year? Fine, put Bama in the East and Mizzou in the West. Or they can do what they've been doing for decades, which is let Bama call the shots.
Bottom line is that in most years, Bama has an easier path to the SEC championship game. Can that even be disputed?
Most years the big 10, Big 12, Pac12 and ACC have easier paths to the national championship. The path we take in the SEC to get there is splitting hairs. I understand the big 12 is still looking for a few good teams.
Maybe you should concentrate on Alabama next year. Our 2009 NC run was historic with the caliber of competition we had to beat. This Bama team made it look easy when they were on top of their game this season. But no one plays well unless they are up. Bama invented the big extravagances at neutral sites to start the season. Wrong team to imply such hysterical conspiracies.
you're smoking crack, gump. your 2009 pales in comparison to our 2011 schedule, and our reward was a rematch with the only team that stayed close to us, and you're full of shit about the other conferences. We're talking about the SEC, and you punks take the eaiser road, with next year, 3 years in a row. Tenn is not a rival anymore than Ole Miss is for us now. For it to be a true rivalry, the other team has to be competitive. Take your bullshit about schedule fairness to Tidefans with the rest of the retards.
