The Tide's huge nose tackle Terrence Cody is out at least 2 weeks with a sprained knee. They hope to have him back for the LSU game. His status will be something to watch closely because if he is back healthy for the game in Baton Rouge he will be a significant disruption for the middle of our offensive line. Brett Helms is somewhat undersized and he will need help on every play if a healthy Cody is playing.
This is a huge loss and LSU will be able to run up the middle almost at will against them. If that happens, LSU may be looking at a blowout win.
I thought the same.. that injury looked nasty. If he comes back in early I expect teams to run right at him and test that knee.
What is weird is Josh Chapman (the "smaller" DT at 300+ lbs) is much stronger than Cody. But Cody's physical mass is what causes defenses problems. He literally takes up two gaps without moving an inch. Chapman is going to be a beast at DT position but being a RS freshman he's still grinding his teeth learning.
I think Bama's "best" (meaning starting players only) match up very well with LSU's "best". Where we'll get beat is in the difference in depth and quality depth. We do not match up well in these two categories.
