I don't think that he has shown himself to be a great coach, but he is a good recruiter. He most likely won't reestablish bama as a national power, but they should improve somewhat due to having better players (unless he just comes completely unglued which at this point looks like a possibility). The bama fans weren't expecting to win a SEC title his first year but they were expecting to see some of improvement on the field, which i don't think they have seen. They have been in games that should not have been competive talent wise, but have been on both sides of it, i.e. LSU, Tenn, and ULM, Miss St. Their suppossed lack of talent has been greatly exagerated.
Yep, typical. :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: TerryP should run and hide with redelephant for a lil while. The Auburn loss this week should do it.
He did have something to work with...It's not like Bama went 2-10 the year before, or the year before that...Last year they had the same record and in 05 they went 10-3 or something like that....So he had something to work with....You gotta remember that it is Alabama, not Ole Miss or Vanderbilt.
If it wasn't for some pressure being applied to Moore you wouldn't have seen contact with Rod. You say difficulty when the job was pretty much filled in November of last year. I'll do that under one condition. You have to ask msully or tigernla over for a play date. :thumb:
Kinda like this guy is doing? http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/ajc/cfb/entries/2007/11/22/will_georgia_fo.html Say what you want about Dennis Erickson but the man can coach football. He inherited a group of players who had been 7-6 and 7-5 the past two seasons and is now two victories away from the Rose Bowl. (They are 9-1)
Hadn't really thought of it that way...but now that you've said it, it does seem to make some sense. Well put! :tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye:
It seems that there are many who are buying-into the recent rumors about Saban having "lost" his team. It also occurred to me that these rumors started up right around the time the Tide began looking ahead to their game against Auburn. Alabama got beat by ULM because they believed they could simply "show up." After all, "we are Alabama," I'm frequently told ..... as if that's supposed to mean something to the current generation. However, I would advise against putting too much stock into some of the rumors about Saban losing the attention of his team. This week, they will be as focused as at any time this season. Bama has lost their way, but they still have superb athletic talent and are capable of rearing-up and beating anyone ..... especially a hated rival. AU 23 - Bama 20
Bama has a chance to ruin Charles Barkley's week. He said last night that there's nothing to do in Alabama except pull for your team.
