I don't think Alabama was beaten by a lesser team. Utah was more physical and had a much better quarterback who seemed to have total control of their offense. Brain Johnson was about as sharp and on target as any QB that I have seen in any of the Bowl games. Their WRs caught about every pass within reach and almost all were within reach. If AP decides to award number 1 to any team besides the BCS winner, IMO, it should be Utah.
Tough loss for Bama. It's hard to be satisfied with a 12-2 season, but I'll take it. (Big of me since I have no choice...) Read back thru the game thread from Tidefans, those moderators were as frustrated as anybody...
Per Rivals, last 4 years 4 and 5 star recruits: Bama: 50 Utah: 3 Any coach in the nation would trade Utah's players for Bama's in a split second. Did Bama get outcoached? Maybe they should have ran that fake punt that they were complaining about, (the one we ran).
I think I enjoyed it more, as Utah was pounding Bama. I was pounding my keyboard on my phone with text messages to my gump friends. JPW should probably go to the combine at the Arena League, see how that works out for him.
I had a hard time deciding who I was going to root for in this game- I had posted in another thread that I would be rooting against Bama because it was not a national title and that it was, of course, Bama. It seemed easy enough. But that was when I expected at least a competitive game. And this really wasn't that. The score no way indicates the game that I saw. Bama embarassed themselves and, more importantly to me, the SEC by getting thoroughly manhandled. I had started rooting for them by the end of the game because I at least wanted to see some competition. Roll Tide around the bowl and down the hole.
