Bama game more important than FLA game!

This may have been covered in our threads, but to be honest, I simply can't read them all.

In my opinion, this game is much more important and has a lot more riding on it than the Florida game, even though FLA was the #1 team, for several reasons:

    1. Loser of FLA-LSU game still controlled their own destiny by winning out, and actually may have an edge if they meet up in the SECCG, thus that game had less of a sense of urgency to me.

    2. Loser of ALA-LSU game is likely out of the BCS championship hunt, unless something ridiculous happens (which is certainly possible), which adds a lot of pressure and excitement!

    3. If LSU wins, they may be in the catbird seat in regards to the BCS, even if they are outside the top three after the ALA game, because of the remaining games (others ahead will certainly lose) and a potential win against #1 FLA in SECCG that would catapult them to #1 or 2.

    4. Its the GUMPS

    5. Its SABAN

I am sure others can add to the reasons list! What say you?

    I am getting pumped!!!

All very much the truth. This game will define our season. Most of us didn't believe at this point we would be in the position to take control of our season and be a serious contendor for the MNC or the SECCG for that matter. Should we win this game our whole season takes on a different meaning. Should we lose then what most believed would be our season more than likely will be. A 9-3 to 10-2 team with a middle bowl berth. Although it is obvious that this team is not the 7-5 to 8-4 that some had believed we would be. This team, although has it's issues, has managed to put itself in a strong position to rise above all expectations. I for one am major excited about this weekend. Win or lose I can say I am proud to be a Tiger fan. The fight is back and we are where we want to be. :geaux: :LSU231:

I was talking to a friend the other day about this very posibility. Which brought up a certain history trend. With the appearances we have made in the SECCG after 2001, the trend would indicate that we beat Bama, but lose to UF in the SECCG. 2003 (W), 2005 (L), 2007 (W), 2009 (?). Hopefully we get past the first hurdle, then break the cycle.

We won in 2001. You are talking about SECCG right?

I think that would be the ultimate prize that most of us would be unbelievably happy with. :geaux: :LSU231:

yeah but i think what LT was talking about was playing a team we played earlier in the SECCG. So if 03 was repeated we would lose to Florida in the SECCG. We would basically be the Georgia of 03.

I really thought this was going to happen in 06, but the stupid hogs only lost 1 game that season. We would have beaten UF in 06 and would have had back to back championships, 06 and 07. Balls!
