wow, reading that...Bama Fans are so starved for a winning season, that they go Matrix on winning a Paper NC Recruiting title. I wonder how long it'll take for them to realize that what happed at LSU, will never happen in Bama with Saban.

I think a segment of both fan bases have some pretty delusional trains of thought. I think these fans (from both fan bases) need to realize somethings about these two programs that they obviously do not want to, even to the point of being ridiculous with their "rationalizations".

Bama fans: Like it or not, LSU will not slip back into a middle of the pack, mediocre team like they were in the 90's and other times through out their history. They have built enough of a foundation and momentum that they have solidified their spot as a team that will contend as equals with the upper tier schools in the conference for some time to come.

LSU fans: I've always said that the scholly limit was college football's version of the "salary cap". Spreading the talent around. So just as this scholly limit will keep Bama from ever dominating like in the Bryant years, it will now work in Bama's favor to help Bama get back on it's feet quicker. Just as other programs have rebuilt, bama is going through the same rebuilding and is well on it's way to being in the mix. The talent brought in with the 08 recruiting class is better (from a physical standpoint) than some bama coaches did their entire tenure. Bama is not going to disappear.

I read somewhere that in August 2007 Patriots coach Bill Belicheat sold his good buddy Saban a few good USED video cameras. I guess he forgot to review the ULM or MooState tapes. I think the 9/11 tape was in the camera for the ULM game week.

Here's my thing about all of this.... The SEC has it's hierarchy of the past decade or so: LSU, UGA, Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, and the rest (not a decisive order, but these 5 are clearly on top of the others).

Bama fans think they are going to join us near the top. The only way that is going to happen is if one of the top teams fall out. There are a limited number of wins to go around. Remember, Arkansas fans are thinking the same things that Bama fans are, just no one criticizes them as much because it is less fun. Of course, MSU is on the verge of turning itself around, as is Kentucky.

Every team is demanding AND expecting success. South Carolina was supposed to have a good year in 2007....... Oops

Then we'll just have to watch and find out. But I can guarantee you this. Those five teams in that so called "hierarchy" aren't set in stone. Two of those two teams are already showing signs of slipping out. Football is cyclical and has proven that over it's entirety. I would bet that pattern will continue. No one is guaranteed to win and no one is guaranteed to lose. As a bama fan I'm obviously going to be optimistic about our future considering out past two recruiting classes and I'm not going to sit here and think that Bama doesn't have as good a chance as any team to win on any given Saturday.

I would agree with you on these comments. The SEC is very competitive and small things can tip the standings significantly.

My only complaint with Tide fans in general is the constant, absolute belief that the next game or season will be better without any logical reason. Sure, optimism is part of being a fan. But, IMO, the bama fans as a whole seem to take it past any reasonable level and thus get called delusional. Of course, there are exceptions and I respect several of the Tide fans who frequent our boards like you and Terry.

    "Logical"?....."reasonable"?.....What does that mean?

Well, certain stereotypes follow a lot of fan bases and the accused fan base constantly tries to dispell the stereotype. Well, I'm not going to do that. It is a wasted argument. Y'all have the same problem with certain stereotypes that follow y'all that MANY LSU fans come to our boards and try to dispell.

I guess the best thing to do is embrace it, have fun with it and let folks believe what they've already made their mind up to believe.

We're going undefeated this year I hope you're prepared for that.:hihi: :insane:

Veiled cheap shot. Other than the 90's, LSU has been a consistently winning program in the top four of the SEC. Part of the famous Bama "delusion" is the notion that nobody but Bama ever won in the SEC, nobody but Bama has a football tradition, and that Bama "IS" the SEC.
