I'm not saying bama didn't earn the right to play in the championship game. They beat us, fair and square. But if we play bama's east schedule this year odds are we're in a BCS game, not the frigging Chik Fil la. Glad the SEC felt the need to polictic for Ga. to get a good bowl, the SEC championship game loser should. Damn shame they didn't feel the need to step up in 06 when we were 10-1, lost to Ga. in the title game, and fell to the chick bowl. I don't really think there is a "conspiracy" in the SEC office, but I damn sure feel that for whatever reason, bama gets what bama wants.
Missing on the Cotton after the 2005 season wasn't something in the SEC office. That one fell at the feet of the LSU administration. They tried to get into the Cotton after the loss, but it was too little, too late. If you think back about it you'll probably remember the conversations we had on this forum leading up to the SECCG and subsequent bowl invitations that year. Nothing has changed since that season. Athletic Departments are in pitching bowl committees well over a month before the regular season ends to get good invitations lined up.
What disembowels L.S.U. most seasons in which they're damn good and great in bigtime BCSNC settings (2008 BCSNC vs tO.S.U.) is slanted officiating, scheduling which puts U.F., A.U. (who'll be good soon), U.A. (Saban), O.M. & Arkansas (the last three back to back. Nobody but L.S.U. (according to N.D. schedules tough in the S.E.C. equivilent to the Tigers) I like it but I hate it.
Just like everyone imagined before the season started, this game would decide and should decide who represents the West. IT DID just that. In essence, it was a playoff game that the tigers got on their home field. One lost to someone else, besides each other, didn't doom either team or a trip to Atlanta.
The Capital One Bowl is not "a-good-bowl-game." PSU (kid friendly) Nitany Lions were allowed to hold LSU players on the mud soaked field for as long as 30 seconds to bleed the remaining time so as to stall the game winning rally. The field was the worst in NCAA Footb'll History. Equal'd by the referees.
Terry, I love your posts, but you are as good as a politician at dodging a straight question: Do you think that the permanent opponent bullshit in general and next years "pull a scheudle out of our asses" scheduling works out in bama's favor?
